Hi there!!
I'm really glad to see the work u've done, actually it's my first time to see a wide range of points of coverage relating in uganda.
I'm an orange internet user, I bought there modem n using there 1gb plan. Mainly, the reason I have contacted you, is to know wheather if I buy warid sim card only n use smartlink for 1 month unlimited as they say, would I be able to connect my fone(Sony Ericsson W995, has wifi also) to the computer n start using normal internet, my main target is skype since I am living away from my family n always love to talk to my mother. And also if you can help wheather it is possible to install skype on my fone(w995), I have tried myself many times to do the same but failed, it only supports text version and no voice calls.
Please help.
Thanks and Regards,
Shariq

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for the groundwork on Internet service. I'm a Canadian from Vancouver working for BRAC in Kampala. I've got an unlocked Huawei 3G modem that I use with an MTN card. I typically get just less than 30kbps download, 10 upload. When I read on your blog about Orange's 3G service I decided to switch. I've since checked the coverage map. I'm in Zana about five km south of downtown Kampala and the service here is EDGE. Do you know whether I can expect consistently faster connections with EDGE on Orange? My monthly renewal date is the 4th so I'm trying to see whether to make a change. I'm OK with paying three months. I do need to make a call to find out whether Orange on Kampala Rd. has the data SIM cards in stock.

Thanks for any help. And take care in Congo.
